Welcome to Company G!!
Company G, 364th US infantry, a living history organization dedicated to the preservation of the heritage of the WWI American infantry soldier and especially that of the citizen-soldier called up for the duration of the war. Through various activities such as battle reenactments and public history events, Co. G attempts to give a human dimension to events that, for the most part, now only exist in the history books.
We are located in Southern California and are a member of the Great War Historical Society (GWHS) which is the umbrella organization for World War One living history in the Western United States. At present, Co. G attends the two major battle reenactments held in the Spring and Fall and are sponsored by the GWHS.
WWI living history is unique in that we strive for a "total" experience by immersing ourselves in the complete WWI Western Front experience and often the scenarios can last up to 24 hours. While of course there is no way to completely recreate the exact conditions found on the Western Front during WWI, we can at least get an idea of some of the things the actual soldiers went through and by doing this, gain a better appreciation of the sacrifices made by the individual soldiers.
Finally, the choice of what unit to portray was deliberate: the 364th Infantry was composed primarily of men recruited from California and Los Angeles in particular so there is a strong local connection with Southern California and in many ways, the 364th's history is California's history.
